Yesterday was a great day! In ten years of teaching, it was my absolute favorite field trip ever. The students and I, along with Ms. Hodgins and Mrs. C, headed into town. There, we stopped at Walmart to do some shopping. We had the pleasure of buying groceries for 28 families in PA and area who need a little boost this Christmas. We divided the shopping list, and conquered it in no time at all. There was even some time to have a little fun...
After all of our shopping, we dined at McDonald's. Such a treat to be able to eat at a restaurant on a school day. A luxury a country school does not experience very often!
The best part of the day was when we brought all our spoils from the shopping trip to the Calvary United Church. It was there the students had the opportunity to pack Christmas Hampers. They were able to see how far a little labour and Christmas spirit can go. The community, through the social workers of SRPSD, are able to provide a Christmas experience to twenty-eight special families.
There was a lot of work and a little bit of play...
Awesome work grade 5/6. It was a great day, and hopefully the start of a Holiday tradition.
