Today is the first day of classes. I am so excited! I got to school early this morning to make sure everything was in order for when the students arrive.
I am looking forward to a great 2013-2014 school year. I have lots of great ideas for the classroom. This summer I completed the first two classes towards my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. I spent three weeks collaborating with other teachers, sharing ideas for activities to do in the classroom. There was a heavy focus on writing, I am excited to see how these activies will apply in our classroom.
I am looking forward to hearing about all the stories my students have about their summer holidays.

It was a busy first day back. The students and I were busy getting our classroom in order. I love going through new school supplies, there is nothing like a fresh bouquet of pencils to brighten up a classroom.
We started with a bang! We immediately began with writing exercises in our Writer's Notebook. First, the students wrote about the summer experience of a classmate, then the students wrote a response to the following video:
